Twenty years ago, Friederike became active in her neighbourhood after attending a residents' meeting to discuss idling coach engines. From then on, Friederike applied her considerable intellect to the many problems faced by residents in her local community from mobile 'phone masts, unauthorised building work and inappropriate planning applications. She would be methodical and meticulous in her research and adept in her forensic approach in dealing with Council officers or members of official bodies or the wording in the search criteria for her Freedom of information requests.
Friederike really did seek truth and justice but this was coupled with a genuine wish to help her neighbours and members of the Ashburn Gardens residents' association and garden committee: she was Chairman of both.
Friederike had a great sense of humour. She had a one word reaction to any official or administrator inept in his or her work due to laziness or apathy: "sesselfurzer!"
Friederike has been described as an amazing woman, a tower of strength and persevered in all her campaigns. She was determined, indefatigable and a resourceful champion. She will be sorely missed.
